Hello folks, I'm just looking for a bit of advice please.

I brought a PC from here a couple of years back as a Games machine and also video/photo editing beast and all is well with that. however, I am going to need a second PC down the studio (the first is at home) and it will be used purely for video/photo editing.

Ideally I'd like to discover that I can make something powerful to do this without having to pay out on the same quality of machine and graphics cards as I paid for last time... or are good Video/photo editors synonymous with good gaming machines only?

What sort of budget are you looking at? And what sort of photos (raw, resolution etc) are you dealing with?

It's more than possible to put together something without breaking the bank, most of the budget would probably go on a decent monitor and calibrator!

Photographs are RAW, at the 24mp, but I might well end up with the 50mp Canon 5Ds in the future.

Video will be 1080p. I'm good on the monitor front, so that's a saving :)
