Soldato
Good afternoon chaps!
I am hoping someone here has the experience and knowledge needed to help me solve a considerably irritating problem I've been having.
Context:
I record youtube vids, have done for several years. They are pretty pants but keep me entertained. I have used the same tools some the start. Record with FRAPS, recode with Avidemux, upload to youtube.
Problem:
the last couple of months I started a series of vids with a friend, just to let him dip his toes in. We started on Borderlands just for fun.
Now I would recode an episode, and the file would save as about 150gb per half hour (1920x1080 60fps), and it would play fine. I could watch it all the way through without issue.
HOWEVER
When it came to recoding it to x264, or infact anything else, it would freeze and crash the coding process. It took us a little while to work out but it turns out these crashes in the coding happen at the exact point where I transition to a new game zone ingame. The game loads fine, then an autosave as I reach the other side. This autosave would kill the video.
Bare in mind, the video was still watchable, just not recodable.
Now things I tried after that:
* Game on an SSD, recoding to a seperate drive. I've tried recording to an empty 2TB, and a half full 3TB, so I've ruled out the drive.
* Recoded in different codecs, different programs, so ruled out those chaps.
* Friend records using FRAPS in the exact same game at the exact same time and recodes without issue.
* Recently tried other games, same issue. Factorio runs an autosave which I have now disabled. Our first session on that had autosaves every 5 minutes, so a big job chopping out all of those!
Does anyone have any clue what could be causing this?
Or better still a recommendation on some better recording software?
