Evening gents, my brother is wanting to get a video recorder for the pc and asked me if i could recommend him one. He had the camtasia trial but the full version is like 200 quid so thats out of the question and a fraps trial can only record for 30 seconds which is no use for him. Seems like the only option would be to get paid for fraps for £25. So if you have any advice it would be welcome.

Cheers.

Camtasia is the best and if you do it often that is what I recommend. If you're just testing the idea then CamStudio can get you by ...

Fraps is very good and small, and for the £25 you do get constant upgrades which is good.

Camtasia is awesome, but I have also seen some free webcam software that allows you to select the source, which can also be the desktop or an application, and it records that. But again, no link sorry.

I'll keep looking for it.

Btw, apparently you can also do this for free with Windows:

Camstudio (free) and then use something like Sony Vegas to edit the capture, costs a lot less than camtasia and the results are as good.
