I was wondering if anyone knew or had any sources on what's the greatest effect in terms of hardware on video rendering time? I'm planning to upgrade within the next 6 months, but in the meantime I've been thinking about grabbing some cheap RAM off eBay to stick in to give my render times a boost.
My current setup (now a little dated I know):
AMD 3800+ X2 (2.25Ghz)
Asus A8N-E
Corsair 2GB (2x1GB) 3500 (433)
nVidia GF7800GT
Windows XP Pro SP2
Now will adding another 2GB of RAM (same speed) actually make that much difference? It'll only cost about £30 inc. P&P off the bay, but obviously if it'll still be bottlenecked by the CPU there's not much point with a major upgrade in the semi-near future (a quadcore and 8GB of 6400 DDR2).
Cheers guys
