An odd issue i have been having. I run a sim rig with triple screen nvidia surround from a 1080TI. Recently after cold start the PC has been BSOD restarting with Video TDR Failure, what failed: nvlddmkm.sys. the game starts to slow down and then crashes. Strangely once it has restarted it runs flawlessly.

I have tried removing drivers and reinstalling latest etc, but so far no joy. not seeing anything unusual regarding temps etc

Any ideas as I'm out of them?

Thanks

Pete

Could be graphics card starting to fail.
But it being issue of cold start hints also other possibilities:
Ironically while heat is their enemy in endurance, failing electrolytic capacitors can start working enough after warming up.
So what's the PSU/how old it's?

I don't think its heat/ capacitor related as I can turn on the pc leave it for 10-15 mins run a game and it will BSOD. If I turn it on, restart imediately and then run game its stable.

Psu is about a year old EVGA 600 w1

I had the same thing happen with my Zotac 1080 mini.

Was rock solid and then started with this error and later crashes reboots.

I thought it was the PSU, but after replacing it the problem continued until the card full on died a week later.

OK thanks, obviously not what I wanted to hear, but appreciate your experience.

It still seems strange that it runs flawlessly after a restart

Right I think I have solved it!! I have a thrustmaster TSPC wheelbase which has a fan which sometimes idles when the pc is off, hence I switch off when not in use.

I have found that if I switch on the wheelbase before starting the pc I don't get any issues. Which explains why It works after a restart.

So I think there is a driver conflict causing the issue when the wheel is activated after windows loads. Not completely solved but I now have a workaround. (And hopefully won't need a new gfx card£££)

Might want to get in contact with Thrustmaster to get that fixed, might be affecting other people too.
