Hi, all.

I'm having a bit of a nightmare with my STRIX GTX 970.

I built my machine a few days ago. For the first couple of days everything was great. Installed the latest drivers and ran a couple of successful 3DMark tests to check score at stock and ensure stability but aside from a five minute glimpse at Elite: Dangerous, didn't play any games.

I fired up Elite today and had a good 5-6 hour session without a missed beat. Just cruising through space, no different to what I had been doing previously and I started to get the occasional flicker of chequered colours and after about a minute the display driver stopped and then recovered. A few seconds later I got a blue screen with the video_tdr_failure error.

Rebooted fine and started up the game again. Got another crash within a minute or two. Rebooted again and opened up my browser to see what I could find out on here. After a few minutes I get a black screen and could do nothing but hard reset. This time, though, I was getting the blue screen error before getting into Windows. Every time.

So, after a couple of hours of trying earlier drivers and getting the same issue, i'm completely stumped and am now doing a full reinstall of Windows. If that doesn't work, I don't know what to do. Throughout the whole ordeal, temps have been fine. I also haven't OCd the card at all.

Any suggestions, anyone? :(

Reinstalled Windows. Tried to install the graphics driver - just the main driver and PhysX, selecting clean install. Halfway through, I get the resolution change and then just as the install is about to complete, the screen goes black.

Rebooted and tried a second time. The install completes. I click finish and then the start button to reboot and the screen goes blue. Now, when I try to boot, after post, the screen goes black and the system restarts.

Is it time to post in the Customer Services forum?

The card looks like it may be broken, so yes.
