Videocard with this PSU ??

Hi all. In need of your opinions.

My mate has the folowing Antec PSU ..

He has the following parts allready ...

1x A64 4000+
1x Nforce 4 mobo
1x 200GB Sata II HDD
1x DVDRW
2x 512MB DDR400
1x SB Live


What is the most power hungry graphics card (assume quickest as well) he could purchase & comfortably run all the above gear with .. both from ATI & Nvidia.

I'd go with an ATI X1950pro (fastest) or a Nvidia 7900gs (not as quick), either should be fine as they are relatively undemanding considering their speed and Antec do make decent PSUs.

7900GS should be fine. OcUK sell systems based on a 300w PSU with a 7900GS

Yep thats the 2 cards i suggested he look at if buying new.

Do you think that any of the 7800GTX 256MB, 7900GT or X1800XT would run fine with that PSU. (My thoughts are that the 7800GTX & 7900GT probably will, not sure on the X1800XT as this uses a fair bit more power from my recollection). As he is looking at 2nd hand cards too, dependant on pricing.

x1800XT might be okay, as Loadsamoney runs that on something similar power-wise. I'd choose from the following list:-

7600 GT (£100), 7900 GS (£110), x1950 Pro (£125)
