Did anyone see videoGaiden on BBC2 last night? It's made & presented by Robert Florence and Ryan Macleod who also make the downloadable videogame show Consolevania.

It was the start of the second series and I had been looking forward to it. What a huge disappointment it was. It was awful, just awful! The production values were low, the reviews old & it just wasn't as funny as Consolevania or videoGaiden series 1. It's the biggest investment the BBC has ever made in a videogame TV show and it looks like it's going to waste. Hopefully it gets better as the series goes on (hey, it can't get any worse) but I'm not optimistic about it.

I caught it after MOTD2 and thought much the same, I thought it tried too hard to be funny and emphasise the Scottish (or Glaswegian) side of the show. Actual game-related content was rather limited, out of date and annoyingly presented. I do think its harder for a single TV show to cover video games with the proliferation of formats now though.

The presenters do a good job. Unlike most TV presenters they care about and have an in-depth knowledge of the subject matter.
