Videomate K100 problem

Hi,

Got a Compro Videomate K100 today.

The drivers etc. installing perfectly for Vista and it controls everything almost properly.

Basically if I press a button more than one in a row (e.g. the arrow buttons, or the volume up/down button) the second press doesn't register.

So lets say I have a row of 10 films, to navigate across them I'd need to press the arrow, then another button, then press the arrow, then another button etc. The only way I can get it to register multiple button presses is by holding the button down, but then it just flies across the screen which makes it very difficult to select a film.

The same goes for volume up/down, if I want to turn it down e.g. 5 'notches' I'd have to press volume down, then another button, volume down, then another button etc. I can hold the button down, but then it goes from full volume to no volume within a second.

Not sure if it's a problem, but on the little VideoMate icon it says 'no device' even though the remote is half working...

Every button press is registered, the light on the remote flashes at the same time as the receiver every single time.

I have tried in my brothers PC and it does the same thing, I'm also extremely close to the receiver at the moment so it's not that.

Is this a known problem, can it be fixed?

Thanks,
Craig.

OK, found the problem.

Just installed the remote on an XP PC and it works perfectly. On the XP machine the software picks up the remote properly and buttons can be pressed more than once in a row.

Does anyone have any experience with ComproRemote 2.0.7.2 not picking the remote up?

[Edit]
The remote uses the eHome Infrared Receiver (USBCIR) if that's any help

Exact same issue as above Vista Ultimate
Can press button only once then need to press another to get it going ,, is there a fix for this ?

Put the following code into a .reg file (e.g. k100fix.reg)

Code:
Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\ControlSet001\Services\HidIr\Remotes\745a17a0-74d3-11d0-b6fe-00a0c90f57da]
"EnableDebounce"=dword:00000000

Then run it (say yes to the dialog boxes that come up) and reboot, fixed the problem perfectly for me.

Got one of these recently, tried to use it on Windows 7 - kept getting bsod's

Now im using it on Vista 64 and the OK button is driving me round the bend, when im in music and i press OK on an album it takes me to that flash Sport page and sometimes pressing the right button opens the Guide

Just realised that i can press Play instead when i find an album.

This remote is so frustrating :(

Mine's working really well at the moment, batteries are lasting well as well considering the amount of browsing I do through my ~150GB of DVDs :p

Just make sure you apply the registry edit I mentioned above else you won't be able to press multiple times in a row.

I'm just using the default Windows drivers for the remote using the registry edit above.

Craig.

Windows was unable to find a driver, i used the one from the cd, then found a newer one online. Yes i tried that registry patch, it is working slightly better but i have to press the arrow buttons more than once most fo time :(

That fixed the problem, cheers but for some reason I cant seem to fast forward either with the remote of using the pc/keyboard. Any ideas

Does anyone know if this works with anything other than Media Centre? I hate MC tbh is it possible to use it as a mouse?

& thank you for that reg edit was having the same problem!

You should be able to - I've not tried, but I am able to turn the volume up/down on my computer with the remote, so I'm guessing it should work in other Media software.

hello, sorry for bringing this thread up again, but i have a problem with a k200 model.
i modified the registry as well, but on my win7 x64 the remote works for some keystrokes, than for a period of time it stop working. is there a software shich i can use to see if the pc gets any signal from the usb receiver? it light up, but the pc just does not respond to its commands. i have tried the remote and sensor on 3 diffrent pcs with win 7 and one with win xp.

Have you checked the VideoMate website for the latest drivers. They have been releasing Win 7 drivers as far as I know (if not, Vista ones will always work).

Are you having the same issue I had in the original post, or a different issue?

well, im having a very wired problem, and it is a hardware one: if i point the remote directly to the sensor, it wii not work. if i point it to a wall or window so it will reflect from it, it works perfectly. so... does anyone know what the problem might be?
i am sure it is not a driver or software problem.
