Hey i have a bit of a weird issue.

My AKG 712s connected to my Q1 mark ii fiio amp on my MacBook Pro works flawllessly. Everything is good volume from videos to games to music.

On my windows PC however despite installing the drivers properly, videos seem a lot quieter through MPC class or Kodi.

Any solutions for this?

I think games are at an acceptable value at full volume on my amp, the music is way too loud at max volume.

It just seems to be films and tv shows and I can't seem to pinpoint a reason. I thought lack of power coming from the amp to begin with but then I realized films and tv shows are perfectly loud on my iPad and MacBook Pro using it.

I'm guessing its some underlying software BS with windows? I know it does mess with the volume of my home theatre speakers to the extent i just added +8db on my avr.

While Windows 10 has thrown up plenty of audio problems when updates come around, my guess would probably be that if Windows 10 was the issue, the lack of volume would apply to all areas; whether it be games, music or TV/films. If music is more than loud enough, then I would say that the issue probably lies elsewhere.

I'm not really surprised that films and TV shows would be lower in volume compared to music. I've often had to turn the volume up when watching a TV show or film. Music with the same volume setting seems to be noticeably louder. Whether it's got anything to do with 5.1 audio tracks and being down mixed to stereo, I'm not sure.

Of course; if the exact same videos you are watching on your Apple devices are plenty enough compared to playing them on your Windows PC, then something must be going on, rather than just the above.

Have you tried a range of different software players on Windows to see if different ones all have the same lower volume for films and TV shows?

I think Mac OSX inherently has some magic juice that apple has applied to maintain volume levels of media through video players at the expensive of a little dynamic range.

I did trial a few different software players.. all had slightly different volumes lol. But it does make sense that a 5.1 recorded soundtrack designed to be listened to at 0db will sound different to a song meant to be played on an iphone.
