I'm sure I'd also recommend Platoon and Apocalypse Now but to my shame I've yet to watch them. Oh, and I seem to remember Tiger Land being good but I can't remember it well enough.

The Thin Red Line is good, altho that is pacific WW2, not Vietnam, but still highly recommended.

Tigerland is a bit of an odd one. It's a good film, but if I remember correctly it's completely set in the training base before they ship out. I don't think there are any scenes in Vietnam. Either that or my mind is going, which is highly probable.

super rare! the cut that came out on dvd is edited somewhat. i can remember first watching it in 1982 when there seemed to be a an influx of good (and not so good) Vietnam-era films. i bought the dvd version for nostalgia rather than the story

Its a documentary rather than a film but Vietnam in HD was very interesting, and had some great footage.

Apocalypse Now is overrated trash on a level with Scarface.

Boys of Company C, not watched since I was a kid but i remember it being very good, and i think it got a golden globe.
