view shared photos on ipad over wifi

i have holiday snaps on my pc and i want to view them on my ipad to show people etc.

whats the simplest way of doing this over wifi only, not bothered about viewing them when out of the house.

can it be done using the original ipad photo app?

Have managed it with google drive but it took ages to upload 2000 4kx3k res pics.

There must be an easier way on a home network.

I've used an app before, which I believe was PhotoStreamr (although it was a while ago and I don't use it anymore). Similar in concept to AirVideo, you install it on the machine with the images, point the server component at the files you want visible and install the app on your iPad.

Personally, I use Picasa (with the excellent Web Albums app) and Flickr as they also serve as a way to share photos with family and a handy offsite backup.
