Is there a software or extension available that allows you to view the directories of websites? So you get a view similar to as you would if you were logged in to the ftp?

Yeah its called knowing the log in details! :p

Most websites wont want you to do this! Although on some sites you can delete part of the URL and it will take you too a directory tree. why do you want to do this if you dont mind me asking?

I'm a big fan of music and a particular favourite band of mine had a promo page on their site that was hidden unless you knew the direct link, but I found it out through a lot of trial and error and got to listen to tracks unheard by anyone else. But now they have moved the page, and just wondered if there was a way I could find it again :P Sad I know.

As the 2P says - if a site allows directory listing you can view it, if not it is forbidden.

One other tool which can help you find files / pages on a website are search engines.

try google

site : overclockers.co.uk

(remove the spaces around the : )

It won't return much but try the 'similar pages'.

You can also use a web crawling software and set it off on a sites homepage.

Beware of the webmaster though. If you crawl too fast, or look dodgy your IP could be banned (not that that particular measure helps much).
