Viewing page source on a page by clicking the area

Is it possible there is a plugin for the browser that allows me to see what portion of the page is in source in a split window view. I had training on our template and the dude was able to show the source in relation to where it sits on the page. I really need this tool but have no idea what it is called.

Chrome and FireFox have Inspect Element. Just right click on what you want to look at and and click Inspect Element

Try Firebug for Firefox too. It will let you edit the source in the browser so you can check how amends will look before you change them in code.

Also handy for trying to break a website. Always fun completely changing the hidden field values of websites

Also on internet explorer:

- Go to the page you want
- Press F12 - this opens "developer tools"
- While in developer tools, press "Ctrl + B"
- When you hover over the page, you'll see blue rectangles round the areas... click the area you want, and it'll show you the HTML and the CSS sections relating to the section
