I'm trying to find a flight which I was delayed on by almost 24 hours so I can put in a claim, but I haven't got exact info as we're going back a few years. I use the same email address for all my flights, this one was Easyjet so I can see all the old flight numbers but I can't find a place which tells me exactly which flight it was, so I have to go through them one by one until I find the one that was delayed.

Thing is, the only site I can find with this info wants me to pay for it, is there no free alternative?

Oh hello :D

Been doing a bit of homework regarding this, and I found this email in my no longer used Hotmail account:

Dear DAVID

we are really sorry to inform you that due to Air Traffic Controller strike in France on 2nd April 2012 your easyJet flight 2162 to LTN Airport on 02/04/2012 has regrettably been cancelled.

We always aim to provide the best possible experience when flying with easyJet, however from time to time situations arise which are out of our control. On this occasion we’ve been forced to take the decision to regrettably cancel your flight.

We will do all we can to help you make quick and suitable alternative arrangements and have detailed the options available to you below.

Please read this email carefully - it contains vital information on the next steps to take.

Once again, we are very sorry for the inconvenience this will have caused you.

What happens now?

If you still wish to travel to your destination you can:

Transfer your flight FREE OF CHARGE by going online to www.easyJet.com and clicking on the manage bookings link at the top of our home page. If you did not book your flight through easyJet.com you will need to arrange for your flight via our call centre 0843 104 5000*;
If you no longer wish to travel and require a refund:

Simply, log onto www.easyJet.com, click on the manage bookings link and provide your booking reference to receive your refund - we will also refund the cost of your return flight on the same booking reference if requested.

If you did not book your flight through easyJet.com and you wish to request a refund then you will need to contact the agency you booked your flights with to arrange this.

Other information:

If you arranged other services for your trip, including accommodation, transport or car hire, you will need to contact the relevant service provider directly to amend or cancel.

If you require further help, including overnight assistance, please don’t hesitate to contact our representatives located at the easyJet sales desk in the airport, who will be happy to help you. Alternatively, you can make your own arrangements.

We recognise that passengers who have requested special assistance may need priority attention. To ensure your needs are met as efficiently as possible, we ask you to identify yourself to a member of our staff either at the airport or via our call centre at the earliest opportunity.

Now according to MSE this was not the airline's fault so they won't do anything about it which is fair enough, but is it their responsibility to look after their customers? This was one of the most miserable days of my life (and I'm a married man ), my wife and I were left in the dark about this with zero feedback from any Easyjet staff. We waited a good 5 hours or so before the flight showed up as cancelled on the ticker and someone finally told us that there'd be no flights until further notice. We ended up staying at a Yotel at Schiphol airport until we could get on another flight the next day.

So I'm just wondering if this is even worth pursuing, it did cost us a few ton to sort it all out, would Easyjet cover any of this? I've loathed them ever since this incident, something I've reported on here before. I could have course try and justify this in a nice way but the cold hard truth is I want free money :D

So, what say the armchair experts of GD? Pursue or GTFO?

Probably gonna scrap it. This article states:

When a strike causes tens of thousands of passengers to have their travel plans wrecked, it is most unlikely that any airline is equipped to discuss the niceties of whether a train journey from Geneva to Manchester, costing perhaps £300, would be a reasonable alternative to a two-day wait for a flight. You might imagine that the airlines would be happy to reward - or at least recompense - passengers who are prepared to display initiative. But experience suggests that if you remove yourself from an airline’s responsibility, then it will be difficult to claim more than a refund of your original fare. It is possible that you might be able to get compensation for out-of-pocket costs from travel insurance. But before you start rebooking, be aware that you may be spending hundreds of pounds in irrecoverable expenses.

We weren't offered anything from Easyjet and getting any info at all was like pulling teeth, so we just did our own thing and sorted it ourselves which in hindsight was probably not the most logical thing to do but having been chasing our tails in an airport for numerous hours before we were just glad to have a shower and lie on a bed for a bit.

One of the most miserable days of your life but yet you've left it almost 4 years to do anything about it? lol

I had no idea that the airline had any obligation to do anything about it, hence why I never bothered. I just happened to overhear someone at work claiming and did a bit of googling to find MSE's page.
