I know this is only relevant to a small minority of readers but id like to ask anyway, has anyone been to bath spa to look at the uni? If so what did you think? I went on an open day there yesterday and after the five minute drive down the provate road up to the place i was in love! It really has the most stunning scenery ever.

Business and management (which i really want to do), its also a teaching led university as apposed to a research led one. But atm my UCAS thingy is broken and i cant select my choices :(

has an olympic pool which is the centre of excellence for GB pool stuff iirc.

a couple of years ago it was voted the uni with best looking women :]

Just out of interest, what kind of grades are you expecting?
The course has to be right for you but the choice of university *can* have a major impact on career prospects after graduation, sad but true. For example some of my lecturers used to work for a multitude of top city firms and they have basically said that when screening for graduate intakes they would simply bin applications from certain uni's.

This has been reinforced by my experiences at job interviews / assessment days - I have been to a few now including Lazard and the FSA, and when I was there all the candidates I met were from the so-called 'traditional red-brick' universities - Uni of London colleges, Oxbridge, Bath, Warwick etc

Anyway here are the top 20 uni's (from The Times) for doing business studies/ business management etc:

1 Oxford
2 Warwick
3 London School of Economics
4 Bath
5 St Andrews
6 Nottingham
7 Manchester
8 Lancaster
9 King's College London
10 City
11 Imperial College
12 Aston
13 Leeds
14 Royal Holloway
=15 Cardiff
=15 Birmingham
17 Surrey
18 Loughborough
=19 Queens, Belfast
=19 Exeter

I think you are thinking of The University of Bath rather than Bath Spa University.

Isn#t Bath Spa in Swindon?
No, it's on the outskirts of Bath (not that Bath is particularly big) :)

My friend's girldfriend goes to Bath Spa and seems to really enjoy it, but as other people have mentioned it's not a top 20 university so could hinder your employment propects.

Is bath spa the one out towards Corston then? towards Bristol?

if so yeah im thinking of the wrong one :/

Pretty sure that's Royal Holloway now

Was about to post on how much of a ****hole i found Bath to be (mainly on the economics building in fairness) but that's kind of irrelevent :p

For absolute record, Bath Spa != Bath. Bath Spa is a former poly on the edge of Bath which has quite a nice drive in, and Bath is the place with the sports village etc etc etc and a shorter but also quite nice drive in, and a nice bit of scenery at the back :)

It was the National High Performance centre until the bods stole our coaches and swimmers and moved everything to Loughborough :(

My brother in law is at Bath Spa uni and he loves it, but then again he is doing sound production and engineering, and its suposed to be one of the best for that.

Well i doubt i could have got into one of the top 20 unis to be honest. Im looking forward to going there, sod the employment prospects.

I applied to do a Business Education degree there because I was advised to put a distance choice down encase I decided to move away to uni. Being from NI I haven't had the chance to go over and see it and since i've got an offer for my first choice over here i'm not going to bother. It looks like an excellent uni though.

Yeh thats one of my reasons for deciding on that uni, its set in absolutely stunning surroundings and i think the fact its a bit isolated will be good for me.
