Sometimes I do not understand why people fear death so much. I can understand if they have family or people that depend on them. Or perhaps if they believe in an afterlife. But otherwise it confuses me.

As an atheist that does not believe in an afterlife. I do not fear death to the same degree as most people. Honestly I see no reason to, after all when I die I would no longer exist and no feelings would be present. No feeling of regret or sadness. What is there to be afraid of?
I am not saying I wish to die. But viewing death this way has made me feel more comfortable in daily life.

What are your views?

I imagine when the time comes to die, plenty of people worry a lot about whether their beliefs throughout their life have been correct...

Soundtrack: Muse - Thoughts of a dying atheist.

Some people think that is an afterlife and are afraid of what it might bring. I suspect that most just don't want it to end.

I don't think it is death that people are afraid of. No one really knows what happens when you die and no one can prove otherwise.

We are scared of the unknown.

Yea I have pretty much the same view.

I find it satisfying that this is it and life is what you make it. It pains me when I read or hear "what is the meaning of life" why does it need a meaning?

I feel happy knowing I can think what I want, eat what I want and do what I want (within moral reason obviously) and not fear some celestial dictator is watching over me wagging his finger.

People fear death because the no longer exist. Think about it, would you want to give up life?

I don't fear death, it's inevitable, but I want to hold it off as long as possible so I can experience great things.

Death per se is not an issue as it happens to all of us. Now a prolonged painful death can't be much fun but going to sleep in your 90's and not waking up. Well what is to fear about that?

I don't fear death. I am a Catholic with a strong belief in god so for me death is not a big deal. Up to everyone what they think of death etc etc. Some fear it and some, like me, don't. Simples

He is a nice guy, a little too skinny, I'm trying to get him to eat more, he is always busy with his job, but gets to meet a lot of people. He is currently signing up to POF, I hope that this will bring out his sensitive side....
