Hello,

Will be buying a new case soon - figured this would be the place to come for advice.

First of all, I want the case to be very cool and secondly I want it to look good (i.e. Not a Vento) - noise isn't that much of an issue for me, although I don't want to have something that sounds like JCB inside a metal box.

I've looked through a good few cases and found the Armor Jr to be one of the nicer ones available - it looks (to me at least) spacy enough and with the fans on the back and front - potentially cool as well. Not to mention very sharp in presentation.

The system I will be building will be relative to: This Thread

And I will be running a: Hiper 480W (4M480) Power Supply.

I'm by no means set on the Armor - as I'm sure there are a lot of good cases out there - but something in the £50-£80 price range would be fine.

I also plan on doing some overclocking in this as well.

Thanks for your advice, Yewen.

I actually quite like the Akasa Eclipse 62 - very nice case. The LanBoy, I would be concerned with it size wise - but I suppose the fans are having more effect in a smaller case - so it works out.

The PC7+ I wouldn't be so hot on - It's a bit bland as you touched on.

Cheers for all the advice.

The PC-7 case has come back into consideration. I'm not too fussed on it in terms of how it looks - but if I could put a few cathrodes into the mix - that may change my opinion.

Granted I'll probably have to save up that bit extra to pay for the case. (I want the see-through side)

I'm at a bit of a cross roads really.

I could go for the Eclipse 62 - but if I do (and go for the clear side case) - It's going to cost me around £110 or so.

I could go for the PC7+ - which would be a lot cheaper - but if I was to push my price range up to around £110 - are there any other decent options available?

See original post for preferences.

I find myself being drawn towards the Armor Jr. and possibly even the Tsunami as well.

At the same time, I'm being a bit distracted through the sheer look of the cases. When I know that I'll have to consider the cooling of the case as one of the most important elements as well - because of that I haven't went out and bought anything yet - and am considering the other suggestions thrown in.

I think it's important that the case can be further cooled (from standard), the case I have at the moment is pretty much limited for cooling options and it runs pretty hot - so I wish to avoid that - a side fan instead of a front and rear is probably not the best...

A few decisions for me to make - probably obvious that I should go for the best performing as opposed to best looking case and the PC+7 with the cathrodes might do the business.

Cheers Yewen.

The Tsumani I threw in as an option - I wouldn't be crazy about the lights on the front of the case to be honest - but better to have a few things to choose from.

The Soprano you mentioned - is a very good call. Very tidy case from what I have browsed quickly of it. I'll probably make a decision tomorrow in regards to what I will actually buy - as it's coming close to Conroe time and I want to get things sorted out.

The only drawback I can gather from most cases I see, is this whole 'no-tool' element of clip in holders for drives and so on - Are these actually of any decent use/quality?

I've wrung many a screw putting a hard drive into place - through no real fault of my own - so I can understand the need for an alternative - but how good of an alternative are they?

Thought as much in regards the screwless lark - seemed pretty rubbish from the bias advertising I viewed it in.

Cheers once again for your help. Barring any major change in decision - I think the Soprano is the one for me. :)

I've heard about and witnessed your feelings towards certain cases. I think it's great that someone can have such a great obsess...support for cases. I don't really - but I have to say that. :o

Will do, Cheers.

And even if I do buy the Soprano, the thought of evening up the score in the 'Cases Gallery', only serves to give me that added incentive. :D

Decent case - you're definitely not paying for the look of the case though....

And on that note; I'll go to bed - and make sure everything is securely locked.

TakeN, I'm personally waiting until I can get my hands on the New Armour - with 'optimized' cooling, i.e. it has a 25cm fan slapped on the side of it.

Unfortunately OCUK have no plans to stock it as of yet. :(

I guess I could do without it - and probably save myself in the cash area whilst I'm at it. Although I do still imagine it would be better for cooling, if sorted right.

In 5 years time when the fan fails (its Thermaltake so yes)

Harsh words there. If I was you, I'd watch your S80's back... ;)

Fair point in regards to having anything for 5 years and the fact that it should be easily fixable/replaced.

However, like most things these days - things are built to break down after a certain amount of time. Companies can't have us having products which work longer than they should do - because there's always a new and "better" model out. It exists in the car industry in particular.

Almost a rant there ^

Cough, Lian Li PC7, 6 years and going strong. ;)

Have you thrown it off the roof yet?

Have you taken the sledgehammer to it?

We can safeguard products in order to prolong their usage, of course - but have you really tested it?

I'm not so sure. ;)
