well I have finally had confirmation that viewsonic are prepared to send me a refund. Only 80% of the original purchase at the moment I may see if I can push it up but at least now I should be able to get a better monitor.
Now all I have to do is decide which one to get and what size.

I wouldn't mind a TN panel too much I don't think, if it meant getting a 22". One of my brothers has a 22" one (though not the vx2235wm) and the image quality seems fine.
