viewsonic theft deterrence feature - problem

ok, so i got a new pc at work and after an hour or so the monitor now has this warning on the screen:

this computer is not authorised for use with this lcd display
please use the perfectsuite program to disable the theft deterrence feature.

pretty annoying and the IT people (how setup and gave me the pc this morning don't know how to fix it.
someone else in the building had this problem and apparently its a question of turning off the machine and booting up whilst holding a button, but i can't find him.
any help - or is this not allowed?

wait a second - its gone now, and all i did was turn the monitor on and off again - bizzare

don't worry about it - i've fixed it and informed the IT people how to fix it in the future - lol typical.

turn off the power to the monitor (at the plug) and turn it back on whilst holding the power and menu up buttons - after a few seconds a message comes up saying the settings have been reset.

not much of a theft deterrence - more like a pointless irritation
