Hi All,

I noticed that in this week's special offers the Viewsonic VA2012W 20" Widescreen LCD Monitor - Silver/Black (MO-051-VS) is reduced from £334 to £234 this seems like a great price for a Viewsonic 20" Widescreen with DVI is there anything i should know about this monitor? because i am seriously considering buying it this week.

Many thanks for your help.

that is a very good price for a 20"WS, putting it in the same pricing bracket as many 19" models! The screen uses an 8ms TN Film panel from Chunghwa Picture Tubes, which has also been used in some other 20"WS models like the BenQ FP202W for instance. It's a gamers screen really, but offers some good responsiveness certainly. Being TN Film the viewing angles are quite restrictive, but not a major issue if you're the only user anyway. A good basic screen really, and at the price, a steal :)

generally image clarity is very good on modern TFT's and it's not really a big are of comparisons because of this. Even modern VGA only screens offer very good VGA inputs and image quality is very good and crisp and clear. It has a DVI input as well on the VA2012W and so the clarity should be good.

Super i think I'm gonna go for it.

One most probably daft question...it says it comes in Black or Silver but where do i specify the colour when ordering?

Sorry if im being naive here, but does this monitor do 1:1 scaling? thanks..

nope, only the newer models do them. Its kinda of a new feature for tft if im not mistaken.

i am also very interested in this monitor.
I want to use it for my mac mini. i have been looking for better looking screens that would match the minimalistic design of the mini. the philips 200w6cs is grey and would be better than this Benq, but costs more!

Well apart from mine had a lazy pixel... the image quality is brilliant, there is no ghosting in games or films, and the black shades are brilliant, shadows in oblivion look as good as on a crt...short review for you... i must admit though going from a 17" CRT i found it hard to adapt to the "WOAH" size but im use to it now... everything else looks tiny :) get it you wont regret it!

*EDIT* Bah dont necro old posts
