Viewsonic VP2030b vs Dell 2007FP

Hi mda96bjh,

I can't pass judgement on the Dell but today I took delivery of the Viewsonic and I'm very pleased with it so far.

This is my first LCD display having come from an Mitsubishi 930sb 19" CRT and for 2D stuff its been better in terms of geometry and clarity.

Some software is provided on CD that takes you through the display calibration process using easy to understand instructions. There is an auto-pivot function that allows you to rotate the display from landscape to portrait mode and the display will change correspondingly.

Height, tilt and rotation adjustment is pretty straightforward.

I've not had a chance to try out any games yet.

Ray.

Ray, A bit of a blast from the past on my behalf but could you please give an up-date on the Viewsonic (provided you've still got it of course)?

Are you still happy with it? How is it for:

Photo editing? General Office? Watching occasional DVD? Games (I've only got grim fandango and monkey island)?

Thanx

Had my Dell 2007WFP for a couple of weeks now and am really pleased. If the FP is of a similar standard then you will not be disappointed. All office apps, photo editing, video editing and gaming (CSS and Far Cry tried so far) are a dream. I also like the idea of additional connectivity to the monitor (same with the FP) for additional video sources (DVD, video, PS or second PC) plus the 4 USB sockets.

Thanx but I was really asking about the Viewsonic but any information is worth having. ta.

I got this Viewsonic a short while ago and it's great! (Although I was coming from a 4-year-old 17" CRT, so anything was going to be great compared to that!)

It's a lovely screen. Loads of good things to say about it:

- One of the things which edged me towards this monitor was Viewsonic's zero dead or bright pixel policy on all of their Professional series monitors Which means that if you do find one, you can get a replacement. Mine had none at all.

- The stand is extremly solid and well-built. Also has a large range of movement so you can put the screen just about any angle you like.

- Tremendous viewing angles. I can't really see any difference from any realistic angle at all. As good as a CRT I'd say.

- Can't really tell you too much about response time etc, as Im not a big FPS gamer, but GTA San Andreas looks good! Also movies look good too.

- It's black! and a nice thin bezel too.
