Viewsonic VP920 vs VP930

Looks like I'm in the market for a TFT. I have a 5 yr old Iiyama Pro 410 and the picture now fades to black all the time. Switching off and on again usually reinstates the picture - until the next time.

I'm not a gamer. My needs are razor-sharp display (for document processing) and good colour (I'm an amateur digital photographer).

Have been looking at Viewsonic. The VP920 looks like bargain ATM. I therefore assume it doesn't have the same panel as the VP930, hence the price difference. Can anyone confirm?

Have also seen comments about the TN panels displaying 16.2M colours instead of 16.7. Is this a marketing number, or can the eye detect the difference?

Thanks for these comments.

The VP930 is a P-MVA panel whereas the 920 is a TN Film as has been said.
Hmm, I fear that the VP930 is out of my price range. Is the VP730 also a P-MVA panel? Or perhaps the question should be are there any other P-MVA panels <£300?

Thanks for all the input.

After a lot of thinking, I bit the bullet and went for the VP930. What a screen!

Any tips on optimising the screen set up most welcome.

I've installed drivers from CD-ROM and also checked the VS site and the VP930 doesn't appear to be included in either the signed or unsigned drivers. Consequently, I'm now seeing "Plug & play monitor" in my advanced display settings. Odd?
