i have a Viewsonic VX2025wm 20" Widescreen LCD Monitor
and a XFX GeForce 7800GT DVI PCIE graphics card.

basically, the connector from the monitor to the card has decided not to work, after unplugging it for the third time in about a year.
the graphics card still works (im back on my 17" CRT) and the monitor works fine (tested that on another pc), but its just the cable plug that doesnt work.

Has this happened to anyone else with this monitor? whats my stance to get a replacement cable (with 1 year of purchase, just)?

why not just go get a cable for a fiver

sorry, im really new to this kind of stuff, but surely computer hardware is supposed to last longer than 8 months???? and where would i get a cable from? The cable shop?

sorry, just annoyed, i spend £300 on a monitor which is now bust.

Yeah, exact same thing happened to me. I first got the monitor and thought, "oh great the cable is busted". Left it overnight and it worked fine after.

That was about 4 months ago. A few weeks ago i decided to plug my old PC into the monitor, and upon reconnecting the DVI cable, it refused to work again. I left it for a day or to and it worked fine after.

I got a spare DVI cable from college, but havent tested it to see if the DVI cables are faulty. Its a pain in the ass but it seems to be a temporary problem (in my case at least), but at least now you know its not just you :)

Well the monitor probably has a 3 yr warranty, and I suspect that would cover the DVI cable too. Phone the manufacturer and hopefully they'll send you out just a new cable.
