Took delivery of my Viewsonic 2025 20.1" widescreen today. No dead pixels, some backlight bleed from 4 corners which I expected. DVI output dead as a doornail, which created a bit of a shock but luckily I had my dvi cable from my VX922 on hand which worked fine. So far so good or so I thought.

If I play an 3d game at 1680x1050 then dozens of tiny green pixels start flashing on and off on the screen. Happens in every 3d game I tried...Oblivion, Quake4, Half Life 2,Graw etc... Running a 7900gtx, and is currently at stock. Also installed monitor drivers and made sure refresh overide is turned off and the monitor is set to 60hz. I would describe this green pixels as a sort of speckling effect. I have 2 other things I can try....the vga ouptut...maybe the dvi output is dodgy on this screen and I have another gtx which I just bought with this LCD for Sli. Maybe it's my video card.

Will post back soon.
Anyone have any ideas ?

<update>Just tried vga cable and no speckling at 1680</update>

dodgy DVI cable? dodgy DVI output from your graphics card? maybe DVI dodgy input on the monitor.....see if you can narrow it down

Thanks.

VGA cable works perfect.

Reconnected DVI cable which came with panel and had a windows screen full of green lines on bootup for a few seconds. Then nothing.

Then connected DVI cable which came with my VX922 and guess what perfect....no green speckles in games at all. Plugged it in and out a few times just to make sure and it's fine. Even wiggles it around when connected to lcd and back of video card in case it was a loose connection. Still perfect.

No idea what's going on. Going to try original cable again, in case I was a complete muppet and didn't have it plugged in far enough to begin with.

Now here is an important question. I played a few games and only notice a very slight difference in response compared to my vx922. Really not noticeable at all unless you are scutinizing. And movie playback is actually a little crisper. However there is 1 MAJOR thing that annoys me. There is backlight bleed about 2" square on 2 corners, and about 4" square on a 3rd corner. Don't have a camera handy to take a pic. Typically what a lot of users have reported, maybe a bit worse. My VX922 has virtually no bleed, just a very thin layer along the top and bottom edges, less then a 1/4", which is normal. So I am thinking about returning the VX2025 and sticking with the VX922. Which would also mean returning or selling my 2nd 7900gtx or possibly going sli at 1280 but with more eye candy. Only for the backlight bleed I would be happy with this VX2025. Wondering what to do basically.

<edit>It was my fault all along...did not have the cables pushed in properly. both dvi cables work perfectly. Have both monitors running and to be honest they look as good as each other for playing back divx. Dont really use PC for dvd's. Gaming wise, the VX922 has a slight edge. Tempted to keep the 2025 over it's size but that backlight bleed annoys me to hell</edit>

The VX922 is much better for gaming then the VX2025.
I have been playing Quake4 and HL2 for the last hour on both, and the 922 is much smoother. The 2025 isn't bad, but the 922 just feels faster if you know what I mean. The 2025 also seems a bit fliddy in some scenes in HL2. For example near the start of game when you take out the combine soldiers with the chaingun, and then climb into the red tunnel so you can get to the chaingun, their is lots of flicker in the tunnel when you pan left or right. On the 922 it is perfect. Compared them both at the same resolution too. Some scenes in Quake4 also play better on the 922.
