yes it's another one of these dead pixel dilemma's

I just bought this screen and after a quick check for stuck/dead pixels, I found a small row of them on the bottom right of my screen. I've tried the rubbing and fast paced video but its not worked. It doesn't show up on a black screen but it does on every other colour. Tends to show up black on dark colours and red on light colours

I've taken a few photo's to show you what I mean, my monitor is on the highest resolution. I would have put the images in as thumbnails as they take up a lot of the screen but I don't know how to do that, so hyperlinks will have to do instead

I've included the cursor in the last two to give you an idea of the scale.

There are about 5 dead pixels in a row so what I'm wondering is should I just put up with it seeing as its in the bottom corner of my screen or get a replacement seeing as I did pay nearly 300 for it?

I know dead pixels are common with LCD monitors and mine aren't in a noticeable place, especially with the screen size, but I consider a monitor that costs nearly 300 to be faulty if it has dead pixels. Whats the general opinion on this?

Doesnt look to bad to me.

I jjust got one of these on the weekend. I've not found any dead pixels myself.

I remember seeing a program out there that is designed to fix stuck/dead pixels by placing it over them and running it for a few hours, maybe try that?

I also heard that viewsonic returns are just repaired items, so essentially second hand. Dunno what sort of condition they are in.

I know it doesn't look too bad, especially with the size of the screen but knowing it is there and it cost me 300 is a tiny bit annoying. Parting with that much cash makes me expect the monitor to be perfect.

I've heard that the returns are just refurbished monitors too but they come with a warranty too so it shouldn't really make that much of a difference. I think the main problem with sending it back is that you might get a replacement with bad backlight bleed or a stuck sub-pixel in the center of the screen which isn't covered in Viewsonic's warranty.

Shouldn't you be sticking it back in its box and returning it under the Distance Selling Regs if it was internet purchased, rather than using it? Probably the only way to guarantee a new unit, not a refurb.

I was under the impression that if that many dead/stuck pixels were immediately adjacent to each other, it was a failure under just about everyone's dead pixel policy.

phone up viewsonic I had a couple of dead pixels and they swapped it out for me, allthough I think they dont usually swap it out for a new one , just a refurb... Not sure though I ended up with a new one cause they made me wait ages cause they didnt have any refurbs

yeah, I got 4 or 5 dead pixels lined up in the bottom right corner but I can't be bothered with all the hassle of sending it back and stuff.

Under the Distance Selling Act, I'd have to pay for the postage, which wouldn't be cheap. Even if I did send it back, the next one I buy might still have dead pixels but in a more annoying place, and then postage costs add up each time.

To be honest, it's smaller than the cursor and its not in my field of view. I'd like to stick with a new monitor instead of a refurb even though it makes little difference so contacting Viewsonic is a no.

4 or 5 dead/stuck pixels on dark colours in the bottom corner is better than one brightly stuck pixel right in the center of the screen. As annoying as it is, I'll just suck it in and accept that a perfect LCD screen is a rarity that I am not persistent enough to chase.
