Right guys, been having a multitude of different issues with a pc at work.

Its an expensive PC bought for Adobe etc.....

New install al Windows 7 proffesional and it has a Quadro FX 580 in it as a gpu.

At first my boss wanted me to use the hdmi out on the gpu, but my monitor a ViewSonic VX2435wm was having overscan issues where it would just cut parts fo the screen off.

I'v googled it and seen that there are hdmi issues with my gpu, monitor and hdmi cables.

So I proposed to fix the problem by using the vga input on the monitor.

I'v used a dvi/vga adapter and a vga cable as default user to set the display up and set the default resolution as 1920x1200.

Lovely jubly so far.

Next, I enabled the local admin account, set a password, deleted the default user I set up, logged and all my work put in to setting up the monitor has been lost. To add to this problem the monitor now has a maximum resolution of 1600x1200, I have not managed to find any way to get it to allow me to choose 1920x1200 which is meant to be native to themonitor.

If I choose 1920x1200 in the Nvidia control panel, it goes back down to the highest setting the monitor is set to which is 1600x1200.

If gone on the viewsonic website downloaded the inf files for my monitor, but still no joy.

How can I reset the monitor, to its default settings. Iv gone through the monitor menue, but I can not find any way to brake it out of its 1600x1200 cage, which is not the defualt for the monitor.

Any ideas?

Hmm, well I tried something I had previously tried before and thats using a dvi to hdmi cable along with a dvi to display port adapter, and that seems to have solved my issue.

However like I said this is somthing I tried before, and after initially working, the monitor changed its mind.

But for now, all sorted.
