Viewsonic VX2835WM 28" TFT

Maybe a little in the vertical but not enough to bother me and nothing across the horizontal. Cost me £535 delivered with 3 year warranty etc. Comes with DVI-HDMI and VGA cables.

Gibbo do ocuk plan on selling these? I know it's TN but I have seen one online for £535.

Hi there

Viewsonic keep asking me to sell their brand again but I keep telling them their panels are over priced in comparison to their competitors such as DELL, BenQ and Samsung.

This maybe a 28" but I'd have thought thats too big for a TN based panel because even when looking head on at the screen surely the viewing angle restriction will be noticable even when looking dead on at the panel.

Plus I know bigger is better but the 24" panels are superior in both quality and connectivity and cost a lot less.

If you guys still would really like this I will look at getting a few in.

Gibbo any chance of getting a few of the Planar 26" IPS based display, I dont want to bother with the NEC considering the input lag.

To be honest the viewing angle is probably better than that of my old 22" screen. the horizontal angles are massive the vertical is not as good but its still more than good enough for me with only minimal colour variation. I can sit back and read the screen even at 1920x1200 the text is pretty much perfect.

The reason I went for this over the 24" is that it cost me only 100 more than a Benq 24" but has the almost identical connectivity (missing the DVI port but comes with a DVI-HDMI cable). The other thing was I already had a 22" and wanted something to use for my consoles. If I'd got a 1080p flat screen the smallest would have been 37" and that would have cost me £700+ but the biggest problem would be it wouldn't have fitted on my desk. With the 28" I get 1080p display for the PS3 and Xbox 360 and also a 1920x1200 monitor for the PC all in one unit which fits nicely on my desk.

It also cost 200+ less than the 27" dell...

Really TBH, taking pictures of your new screen should be higher up your priorities list than work!!

Nah seriously, thanks :D really curious about these.

I have been ready to buy one of these for ages... but OcUK haven't stocked them despite my thread after thread asking "when are they released!"

They are finally released and now viewsonic is pulled from OcUK's product list...

:(

I am holding off my order of parts until I find a monitor worth buying on OcUK.

Its either a 28" Viewsonic with 1080p or a 32" Samsung with 720p  :( so hard to choose, any help!?

J1nxy - Can you comment on their concerns regarding the sound and sharpness setting re-set bug on switch off?

Z

The sharpness does not reset on my screen when powered off. When it comes to the sound I have no idea as I use a 5.1 setup from all my devices. It does work thou as HDMI from the PS3 fired up the speakers when I 1st ran that.

I had a similar dilemma over whether to go for the 28" Monitor or a 32" TV. The monitor won as I decided that a 1080P screen which I could run my PC at a decent res and the 360 and PS3 at 1080P would be better than a 720P 32" TV as 1366x768 for a PC was horrible.

You can order from where I got mine and get free next day delivery so it won't cost anymore from that point of view.

There is one small niggle I've come across and that is when running 1080P into VGA from the 360 it crams it into the left side of the screen until I hit horizontal resize in the menu (3 button presses) and then its fine.

Here are a couple of daylight shot.

Hmm, problem is, I already have a 20.1" Dell 2007WFP for a monitor and thats more than enough for my PC.

I need something for my 360, so I think wall mounting a R88 Samsung 32" might be better for me, cause I will sit further back to play on the bigger screen.

tough call though..

How much is the Viewsonic? the Samsung 32" is about £500

I had a 22" ws TFT but couldn't justify the space for the 32" screen as well. This monitor fills both briefs in a very nice and exceptionally good looking display. I can now sit further from the screen regardless of what I'm using which is a good thing as well.

It cost me just over £500 delivered inc vat etc and next day shipped

I had/have the Video 7 22" which I ran off of DVI from the PC. The image quality was very good but then this monitor is so much bigger and has inputs for the PS3 and the Xbox as well and is well bigger :)

The build quality on the Viewsonic is superb with a piano black finish to the bezel very similar to that of the PS3. It comes with HDMI-DVI cable, Vga cable and composite and has connectors for S-video and Component as well.

I'm very pleased with my purchase :)

OK folks been messing with the colour settings etc while up with our 3 week old baby (sleep deprivation is fun ;) and it gives me something to do while feeding her)

For the 360 using VGA cinema mode looks fantastic, just been watching the Matrix in HD and blacks are black with nice detail and colour without being washed out etc.

For PC mode thru dvi/hdmi I've got contrast @ 63 and brightness @ 48 colour is at 6500K using standard mode.

I was a bit disappointed with HD colours etc to start with...not any more :)

so, how does this TFT compare to the BenQ FP241WZ 24 when using external HD equipment like HD/Blu-Ray DVD Players/PS3/Xbox360, etc at full 1080p? and is the colour black really black on this TFT? and how about the other problems that the past TFTs put most people off from buying them like 1:1 pixel mapping/ghosting/motion blur/response time, etc?
