I have tried searching all over but no one seems to make mention of if these panels are 6 or 8bit. Hope someone here can enlighten me. Thanks!

No idea, but Ive got a vx922, its the first TFT Ive used, apart from laptops. Its supposed to be best for gaming, and I found no difference between this and my old trinitron 17", in terms of game display.

I watch a lot of DVD/AVI and its perfect as far as I can tell. Early on I could see some difference in static picture quality but I dont notice now.

The reason for the upgrade was because my CRT had a noticeable mains hum (noticeable if ** listening for it), but this really has a comparable amount of noise although u need to put ** ear next to it. Although this is probably irrelevant to u.

Thing is, when viewing stuff like cell shaded pictures, manga and the like, with gradients, there is a noticible banding on the gradient. Instead of being smooth you can visually see where the colours "fade" into each other, with a nice thick line instead of a smooth transition. More apparent in 16bit but still there in 32bit. Everything else is fine, hence my wondering if its a 6bit panel, but I cannot seem to find specs for this anywhere.

Try view that picture full screen in 32bit and 16bit and see if you get what I am talking about.
