hey guys i need help i posted a while back about my viewsonic 19inch flickering and have narrowed down the problem after building a completely new system to run it on..

it seems to flicker on the desktop when i have an internet window open, i think its one that has adverts or flash going on ( like not on this forum as no ads or pop ups..) . i notcied on msn it also flickers ( adverts on it too ) the other time it gets bad is watching windows media player files on webpages... or quicktime it seems to go crazy . ( it works fine in games at resolutions of 1024 x 768 and my favoutire of 1280 x 1024)

i am talking about magnetic flickers that are incoherent, i have got latest drivers, completely new pc, nothing is hot (watercooled), reinstalled drivers etc etc, all i want to know is my monitor FAULTY>?

Patience.........you are talking about a very ambiguous problem. :)

Do the obvious.

Try monitor on another PC. If problem still there then it's the monitor, if not it's an issue with a driver or gfx card. :)

Booner! I had the same problem as you and posted in your thread before. I have now had a replacement monitor due to dead pixels and I still get the problem.

Last night I fugured it out.

I tried using the analog connector but it wouldnt even turn on so i immediately switched back to the DVI cable and hey presto the monitor flicker had gone.

After a few reboots the flicker came back and I once again fiddled with the connector into the graphics card and it sorted it out.

It appears to be some sort of dodgy connection either with the graphics card or the DVI cable. We both have a 6800GT so im wondering if its just a bad batch of those?
