Vince's Repair Thread - (Console Repairs & Mods)

I now have many xboxes again all fixed up and ready to go... I also have a series s not in the picture that's also sorted.. quite enjoying the xbox fixing atm.
Have you sussed out the Series X now? I remember you not being happy about something with them but can't remember what it was now

Yea I have sussed exactly how they work now... there are fundamental design issues I dont agree with still but what can you do? This applies to both Series S and the Series X - 4 ish years in and nobody has cracked the encryption keys to bebuild a system that is missing an SSD - I suspect unless MS do something that we will never get a tool for pulling the encryption keys and rebuilding a system with an entirely dead ssd. Encryption keys should be stored on things like EEPROM's not nand. Nand dies, its what it does.

Just as you think you are making some money you walk into CEX and spend £100 on a vita game  - Why do I do these things
Just the one game? What was it? I didn't realise Vita games even had value lol
Got to admit I do keep getting an itch to pick one up as i've never played the Vita Uncharted game

Same here, always wanted to play Uncharted on it but I somewhat feel like I've left it too long now and would just be disappointed by how it looks/plays. There's not much else on the Vita I'd want to play (nor do I have use for a handheld) so I'd probably just sell it on again afterwards.

What about gravity rush? another must play vita title that is...

So weird thing happened today - An ebay buyer I had been warned about by a few different people in the span of a week tried to buy a series X from me. As soon as I saw the name I called ebay and they gave me a plan of action on how to cancel without the buyer leaving neg feedback. Anyway I relisted it and a few hours later it sells to a zero feedback buyer... I'm just going to roll with it now. I am risking it but told myself I will send a message and if he messages back ill let it go. They messaged back I shipped the item and get back from the post off to the message "Just to confirm you have a warranty right that lasts X time".... im a private ebay seller..... this likely wont end well.

check these reviews for the first buyer I cancelled the order on: https://uk.trustpilot.com/review/pixeluk.net

The new buyer is a fella from bradford 22 miles away from the original buyer... I hope its not some sort of burner account... but an ebay account registered feb 2023 with no feedback is always a red flag. Will let you know how we get on! It's super rare I have issues with anything tbh as I test a lot, on the odd occasion something slips through the net I'll always put it right out of my own pocket but its super rare... We shall see what happens!

Hi Vince, going to get my commodore Amiga 500 out of the loft. It’s been in there donkeys years. If I don’t burn the house down plugging it in. Is this something you could repair if it does have a problem.

I bet it works!! Most 500's I come across still work! But yea we have done some 500's!

Thanks I will pluck up the courage over the weekend to see if it comes on.

The most common issue I see with the 500 is a missing workbench floppy!! The 500 is basically a brick without workbench! And of course it's not exactly easy in this day and age to make an Amiga workbench floppy.

I like the way people are trying to appeal to reason/decency with someone who appears to be an out and out scumbag LOL - if that worked they wouldn't be that way in the first place.

I dont get why companies like ebay allow them on the platform. Mind you its possibly to do with the 2k or more items they buy on the platform monthly! It looks like what they do is buy from people on ebay and sell that item on their amazon store. If their forward customer isnt fully legit or if they have random returned stock from amazon sales they simply rip off ebay sellers by sending back whatever they have returned. Scumbag move!

There are also long threads on reddit on the same buyer where people are up in arms! Obviously I pointed this all out to ebay over the phone and the response was basically "until we can conclusively prove what they are doing there is little we can do". You would have thought just the sheer number of INAD requests right on the 30 day deadline should be a massive red flag but apparently not.

In other news my buyer got their series X this morning and messages me all excited that it took less than 12 hours to get to them. So this is good news! they might be 0 feedback but im not really getting any serious red flags from them beyond the initial one...
