Just wondered as I have 100's of tapes from when i was a kid, and some of them i wouldnt mind listening to again. Same goes for some vinyl. Whats the best way of getting it into my PC and recording it. I would prefer to record it as a MP3 file though.

Do you just for eg: get a tape player and connect it to the line in on your sound card ? I can understand that if so, But how would you go about records / vinyl ?

many thanks

Sure plenty of you have done this before.

Have a look at this page, the first result I got for a quick Google. Has a list of equipment you'll need, all the required software and a brief method.

As far as I'm aware, you can record tapes through the method you've already specified. However, apparently vinyl outputs at a much lower frequency and as such you'll need an amp/preamp and a few adapter cables :)
