I’ve just got myself one of these, set it up, and now find that I’ve got it wrong somehow and of course the manual is at home and I’m travelling.

The big issue is that it is recording at night when it’s supposed to be off. I have it powered through a Rearmaster OBD power cable and that’s set to kill the power 30 mins after I turn the engine off.

The second issue is that all the photographs I told it to take have disappeared.

The third issue is that I purchased a 256 GB SD card which, of course, is too low a capacity for a three camera device, especially one that’s recording overnight, and I know that high capacity SD cards are a target for fraudsters, so how do I make sure I’m buying a genuine card?

Best way to buy a genuine card, is to go through a trusted store and only buy a big brand card. Still no guarantee though. But Amazon has a decent returns policy though.

Also, as you're going to be using it in a dashcam, I'd personally go with a high endurance Sandisk. You can get those direct from Sandisk, but expect to pay a premium.

I got a Sandisk Max Endurance 128GB from Amazon themselves and it’s fine but I only have a front camera. Only issue I have is I need to connect it to my phone before every journey to get the time and date stamped on the recorded video.

If I don’t then it doesn’t show the date and time. This behavior only started after I did a firmware update before it would display the wrong date and time unless you kept the cameras super capacitor charged.
