Virgin 1Gb or Openreach FTTP

Personally I would be avoiding Zen, I've not long got out of my contract with them after they made a change to my line without notifying my that made it significantly worse. There's a fair few (large) threads on TBB forums about it. Their customer services has gone downhill and it was a pain to get through to them. Their new leadership are driving them in the direction of TalkTalk but they still pretend like they're a premium supplier.

Their new leadership? Who's the CEO now?

No idea but they brought a load of ex BT & Virgin Media guys into their management and their whole business model now seems to be about driving business in the wrong direction. Richard Tang has also stepped aside and things have changed a lot.

I dodn't know this! They better not break things! Look at this for 2021 lol

That's sad to hear. They were always towards the top of my list, I used them years ago on ADSL2+ (iirc). We've had a lot of BT fibre vans buzzing around and parking up along the street lately. I live in hope...

These companies are trying to get too big. A downfall of a lot of them because it becomes a race to the top. Instead of trying to win over current customers people jump ship. What a crap situation to be in.

I can wholeheartedly recommend Aquiss. BTW Backhaul, great CS, static IPv4 as standard, /29 for an extra couple of quid a month and /56 IPv6. Every time I email them they get back to me rapidly.

Thanks for the heads up. We can't be long for fibre now, we're at the front of the rollout and I'm seeing a lot of vans lately as I said. Fingers and toes crossed. :D

I was torn between Aquiss and Giganet. Both have great reviews and with Aquiss sale, 500mbt package are the same. I chose Gigabit due to the monthly contract and fixed £37 price and a router included.

When I was still with Zen I reached out to a number of ISPs to ask for a second line activation on my 4 port ONT. I think Aquiss were the only ones who knew what I meant, that's why I went with them. I didn't try Giganet though, didn't see a reason to as I was happy with the pre-sales service I got from Aquiss as well as what they offered as a package. Router doesn't bother me, I haven't used an ISP router for about 10 years.

Just got my aquiss 900mbit activated today.
Downloading GTA5 at 118mb/second. 106GB download will be downloaded in less than 15mins.

Incredible. Just incredible. Shout out to ChrisD for the recommendation. Plus 6 months half price for 1 year contract. Outstanding.

Used to be on Aquiss adsl back in the day customer service was top notch hopefully FTTP comes in my area stuck with Virgin until then.

Cant say it been a bad experience so far though apart from the poor customer service connection alright.

If available in your area, Vodafone are doing their 900Mb Pro plan for £30/month on a 2 year contract. Just be aware they do have CPI increases around 5-10% every year. I just upgraded from their 500Mb plan this past weekend. Works out cheaper than Aquiss over the full period, plus you get 900/900, not 900/100.

Good price now but 2 year tie up is a long, long time! I suspect with recession looming, people will start to cut down and I think prices will fall as more companies provide these type of services. Remember, until a short while ago, VM was the only ultra fibre provider. Their prices have dropped (on renegotiations as well) with the expansion of FTTP.

You're comparing Openreach FTTP to CityFibre, two different products with two different prices points (CityFibre are cheaper than Openreach), so not entirely fair.

A good point, however I just got to the end of a 2 year contract on the 500Mb plan and prices have gone up if anything. Perhaps prices were low due to introductory deals when I first signed on. This deal on the 900Mb seemed to be the exception to that at the moment.

Ah, my bad. I didn't know there was a difference.

Glad you’re happy, I can’t see me moving until CF come along next year and sadly Aquiss don’t offer it.

Nice one. This works out at £37 per month for 500Mb plan. Giganet charge the same as well BUT monthly contract.
