Been a Virgin Media customer for a couple of years now, currently on a bundle including 20Mb Broadband.

Have been tempted to upgrade to 50Mb, which after speaking to them I can have for an additional £5 per month.

Question is.... Is there a noticable difference?

Cheers

Is there a noticeable difference? I'd probably say in the region of 30Mb :)

I guess there's a limited set of questions to ask :

1) Do you download much?
2) Would you like to download faster?

If you're saying yes then upgrade :)

Hi,

Don't download a huge amount, but when I do then yes faster the better.

Thought about it and it's been ordered, due install 10th Feb!

i've had 50Mb for a few months now - i download a few torrents but they hardly DL at 20Mb+ speeds. Only advantage i notice is streaming HD youtube vids at full 50Mb. I'm going back to 20 soon

In that scenario your download speeds are only as good as the seeding upload speeds.

Just to let you know all 20mb subscribers will be updated to 30mb in Feb for free...Thats what they guy told me when i called to cancel.

50mb is awesome, well done! I find I max the connection on newsgroups so well worth it! Plus I'm liking the superhub, though I've only had it a few hours.

How do you guys get it for a few quid more?

I'm on 10mb and for me to get 50mb they want me to spend an additional £35 ontop of what I pay already? Its crazy.

Any advice? I'm on Smallest TV Package, 10MB Broadband, and XL Phone.

Really want to switch to 50mb but £35 ontop is taking the mic?

I've phoned them and mentioned about leaving... but then their argument is "no where else does 50mb". What do I say to that?

I'm currently on a bundle which is TV Package M, 20Mb Broadband and Phone Line Rental this is comming in as follows: -

Line Rental: 11.99
TV Size: M: 0.00
Broadband XL: 37.00
Phone, Bband XL & TV Discount: -17.00
Paper Bill Charge: 1.25

Monthly 33.24

Upgrading to 50Mb will be an additional 5.00 per month (38.24) have now switched to e-Billing so no longer paying 1.25 per month but 36.99

Taking that into account I'll be getting 50Mb for only 3.75 extra a month :D

As has already been said, bit of a no brainer really.

Pick your new package

The price you pay for broadband is dependent on your existing package and may differ from the prices below. Prices quoted are for customers with a Virgin Phone line.

Your existing package is Virgin Media broadband Size XL.
Upgrade to Virgin Media broadband: Size XXL from £25.00 a month

so according to me its £37 less £8 = £29 but then they want £25 a month?

so 50mb seems cheaper online!!??
