Dear All,

I am experiencing a problem with my 50mb connection which is literally driving me insane. When i first had it installed (along with my free netgear router), i noticed that sometimes the net would totally drop out on all wierd / wireless clients. All the lights on the modem were on apart from the up arrow which would be flashing. To fix this i rebooted the modem and my router. After a while doing this every day annoyed me so virgin replaced my modem and my router with the new VM abit router. Same thing happend but i noticed that i didnt need to reboot the modem at all - i could get it back online by just rebooting the router. I searched google and noticed several people complaining of problems with abit routers dropping out. Firmware upgrade wasn't an option as this was a customized VM abit router which doesn't even appear on the abit site. So yesterday i went out and bought myself a belkin router and this morning i woke up to find no internet again. Rebooted the router...all fine now ! ARRGHHH OMG. The belkin router's internet light was flashing blue which according to the manual means it's lost it's internet connection and is trying to re-establish it.

I don't understand whats going on. The modem doesn't need to be touched to get things working so it's not a modem fault (its also been replaced). I've been through 3 routers now so i can't believe all 3 have the same fault.

If ANYONE has any suggestions i'd be most grateful as it's driving me mad.

Same problem i get i just have to reboot the modem and all is fine, my problem is meant to be slow snr problem in the area, its a pain but it doesn't bother me that much maybe 2 times a day.

I am getting this as well

Down stream Power Level
(dBmV) 3.07 3.27 2.90 3.31 this is whats causing it and the tech that have come to my place can't understand whats going on.

But later in the day the power levals will go down to normal and its ok agaiin. Also check your Upstream for errors.

I am now keeping a log and taking desktop pics of the modem levals so when the tech does come he can see.

The only thing my cable modem diags page shows are lots of these errors :

Critical (3) No Ranging Response received - T3 time-out

Any idea what that means ?

Sorry if this is a daft question, but where are you getting those readings from?

I’ve had no Internet since 16:00ish yesterday, and I don’t know why…My Network is fine so I’m guessing its not the router.

That's your Upstream errors, go onto VM newsgroup for Cable support and tell them about it and any other problems.

you can see that by clicking on this http://192.168.100.1/CmDnstream.asp or goto the main menu with http://192.168.100.1/ both are for your are for the modem

mine was doing excatly the same, had three routers all the same probs. phoned them up and they said on thier system i had a 20mb line and a 50mb line on the system. they removed the 20mb (what ever that is or does i dont know!) and it helped a lot. but now and again i notice my connection drops still but i think i've i narrowed it down to when both my iphone and ps3 and on the wireless network it causes any of my routers to drop out
