Virgin Active Vs Nuffield

Heard the new my local virgin active gym is changing to nuffield.
This is part of a big sale between the two companies

What can I expect with Nuffield? How bad or good will it be?
It will vary between each gym obviously. I go to a nuffield and it's not too bad. Has enough equipment and my one isn't very busy most of the time which is good. My main issue is the dumbells only go to 40kg!

Yeah my gym is transferring also - there is another Nuffield in Crawley just 3 miles up the road.

I'm hoping they don't go changing too much, gym has a decent weights area and good opening hours.

The Nuffield club in Crawley closes an hour earlier than the Virgin one, although it is in the middle of nowhere where as Virgin is in the centre of town. Hoping they don't do anything silly with the opening hours.

I suspect they will change the following

- All red to green - I hate green lol
- remove the TRX and GRID stuff (this is something I use so this impacts me

I work in a VA that's changing to Nuffield, so I can't say for sure that all gyms will be the same. They've told us that the gym floor will stay the same but they'll just have to rename things because it's not under VA anymore. Seeing as the GRID refurbs are all relatively new (within the past few years), and cost a few million to do, it's likely they won't change any of them. They may change the gyms that don't already have the GRID in place as they're probably looking a bit out of date.

wow a few million for the grid? this is insane

what about the colours of the machines? surely they won't go for the red

Checked the Nuffield website for information and apparently they're keeping prices the same.

The Nuffield 2 miles up the road from the Virgin they're taking over is £13 cheaper a month, so I imagine I'll be cancelling and then signing up again if that remains the case.

Same with leeds city centre virgin active (the light)

So far its worse now its Nuffield. Sauna was out of action for 3 day which has never happened before, pool has been closed twice due to the lifeguard walking out, a couple of machines like rowers out of order, paper towels changed (it sounds like nothing but they are so thin now that you need half the roll for it to do anything!)

There are rumours of them putting the price up in January too.
When the gym changed hands from Esporta which i was a member for a few months to Virgin active, there was a whole gym floor machine refresh done within about a month. I asked Nuffield staff and this was not on the radar for them.

What makes me laugh are the lockers - they all still have and S (Esporta) symbol on them from over 6 years ago
