Hi

Until recently I had ADSL via Pipex into my DLink 2740B ADSL router. I've also got a Laptop that connected to the internet via wireless on the router.

I've now ditched Pipex and have Virgin, connected to the PC and the internet.

But what about my DLink router and the wireless network...?

The PC still has a LAN cable to the router, so the laptop can connect to the DLink router and the local network okay via wireless, but not it seems the internet.

Can someone please shed some light on how I can best configure these?

I'd like to use my DLink router as it's been very good for me at is far faster to the free virgin kit.

Thanks

Yeah I do have cable...

So even though the laptop can connect via the ADSL router to the main PC, which is in turn connected to the internet via the virgin cable router, the laptap can't actually utilise that connection?

So you have the cable modem and a router from VM, attached to a PC which also has the ADSL router connected to it and the laptop connected to that?

It should work, but the ADSL router isn't doing anything of that the free router from VM doesn't do, and you can't replace the VM router with the ADSL one...

Virgin do ADSL as well now don't they? So not necessarily, but yeah, chances are you have cable and need a new router :(

That's why I said "on cable" rather than "with Virgin" - that, and I could see the OP was posting from a Blueyonder IP...

i was just thinking 'man people must be tired of seeing this response'
