Virgin Broadband and DHCP issues

After success fixing my parent's BT broadband over Christmas, I've returned home to find a problem with my Virgin Broadband!

It keeps dropping out randomly and will only reconnect if I restart the modem or if I renew the DHCP through my Apple Time Capsule.

A colleague at work said he had the same problem which eventually led to him leaving Virgin, but that doesn't really solve my problem.

Has anyone experienced this before and is there an easy fix other than getting an engineer out?

Thanks for the advice so far guys.

It's not a Super Hub, it's one of the old back ones.

Some digging suggests it's an Ambit E08C007 what ever that means.

I've got that plugged into my Time Capsule which provides Wi-Fi around the flat.

Usually if the connection is lost, the LED on the Time Capsule changes from green to blinking Amber. However, when I experience the loss of connection described in the OP, the LED remains green (suggesting there is still a connection) but nothing web-related will load.

Only by going into the Time Capsule settings through AirPort Utility and reseting the DHCP lease or restarting the modem (not the Time Capsule) will get me back online.

So it sounds like it's time to replace the ageing modem with a Super Hub?
