Ok so the situation is that I have been with Virgin for a few years... tv/phone/60mb internet.

Unfortunately the owner of the household and bill payer has decided to switch everything to Sky as the bill will change from about ~£50/m to ~£25/m.

Unfortunately there is no Sky Fibre in my area - I can only get the normal 'unlimited' package which looks like ADSL to me and expected speed is 2mb-5mb....a big drop. House opposite is only on 1mb with TalkTalk so realistically I am not expecting a lot higher as we are very far from the exchange, 2km+ IIRC.

Once the Sky Phone/Broadband is installed on Thursday (engineer coming round, TV was installed last week), is there anything stopping me calling Virgin and placing a brand new order just for the internet? More importantly is it technically possible to have?

The situation is complicated further as last week there were roadworks on my road.....and they CUT the virgin cable (which we share with our neighbour) by mistake thinking it wasnt being used. So I have had no phone/internet at all at home. Virgin say it will take ~2 weeks to get a new cable, but luckily the Sky install was already scheduled for this Thursday so should have net after that.

But I love the idea of having my own internet connection (I use it for gaming and other people in the house liked to download) but wondering whether its technically possible to have virgin cable broadband while having sky tv/phone/adsl bb?

As in two connections to your house?

That's possible and would work fine, although if you want to just get virgin broadband with sky phone/tv you'd be better off checking your contract before it begins

Tempted to say that it would probably have been cheaper to tell the bill payer that you'd pay the diff between the sky and VM monthly costs ... 60Mb VM broadband is £27.50 per month. (With phone its £19.50 + £15 = £34.50 so no longer cheaper with phone!)
