Is anyone else having problem with Virgin's DNS servers? My internet was down for a day, so changed my DNS settings from Obtain Automatically to Manual and used OpenDNS, and now it's working.

I'm glad to hear it's not just me. Are there any disadvantages to switching to OpenDNS? Should I try to change back as soon as it's working again? Would it help to put the Virgin DNS servers in manually?

VM DNS is woeful at the best of times. The first thing I do when someone asks me to "sort their PC out" and I notice they're on VM is suggest they move to OpenDNS. The change is immediate and (to them) shocking. Loading times reduce by a mile. I've not seen any downside to OpenDNS personally, but a mate reckons it can mess up shortcuts in Firefox. That's never happened to me though, so... LOL

Woah! Was reading this and changed my VM connection to OpenDNS thinking it might solve my access problem to www.tweakguides.com (which it hasn;t...:()

BUT

My connection is like its gone from steamdriven to nuclear! So much snappier!

:D

My internet has been pretty patchy in the last few weeks. I switched to opendns on my router a couple of days ago and it's been perfect since then.

Just doing mine. Had a memory allocation problem and it told me to reboot and revert to the original version, then try the latest firmware again....

Didnt notice anything faster myself ...
