Virgin Hub 5 and wifi dead spot options

I’ve just upgraded to the Hub 5 from the Hub 3.

I’m in an old property and have a dead spot in my office area. For the last 3 years I used a Powerline on the Hub 3 without any issues. Now the Powerline keeps dropping out on the Hub 5 and is unusable. I have read that the Hub 5 is not compatible with the Powerline.

I can’t get my head around why the Powerline won’t work as it’s only an Ethernet connection. I tried running into a 8 port switch first but it’s still the same.

Anyone running a Hub 5 with a Powerline?

Router shouldn't affect powerlines, it's more to do with the quality of the building's electrical wiring. Are they plugged into extensions? Did you add any new devices that maybe could be affecting it? Or the Hub 5's power usage itself is maybe more "unstable" than the Hub 3.

But I never found powerlines that stable anyway. If running a proper ethernet cable is not an option, perhaps consider a mesh setup instead.

Powerline worked perfectly well on the Hub 3 for years and they aren’t plugged into extensions.

I had a similar problem when I switched to Sky, turned out the RF noise from power line was too much for the new modem used for the faster broadband, can't say whether it is the same for Virgin but easiest way to test is to move the powerline plug a few metres away from the modem via ethernet cable and see if it is stable, that is all I had to do.
