Hey Guys,

I need to change the i.p of my internet because a game i play, i restarted my home hub but i still have the same i.p as before is there a way i can force change it somehow ?

Thanks !

Modem mode and stick a router behind it or call Virgin.

I've been swapping between an Asus and Mikrotik router lately trying various things and I seem to get 1 WAN IP with the Asus and another with the Mikrotik but always the same 2.

Virgin must hand off IP's from some kind of MAC reservation.

As a temporary measure you can switch between modem mode and router mode. Each has it's own mac and IP.

I don't know any games that mean you need a new IP whenever you play... Unless you cheat and get banned.. :D

Basically i play an online game, and your not allowed two nations.

My sister has been running a nation from my parents and now i've moved back i wanna log onto mine cos she is giving up but i can't cos her nation is still logged at this ip.

get a vpn and log in to your sisters acc from the non-vpn ip and then log in to yours through the vpn ip

better still,if you have more than one device in the house then you can log one or two devices in to different vpn ip adresses and still have your original ip free for general use

Thus restricting your web speed drastically.

You'd be better logging in through a vpn on your sisters account enabling your home ip to use your account.

I had this problem a while ago when I was switching between modem mode and router mode, upon switching I was assigned a new ip which was banned from a website I like to view, in the end I had to just put the router back into the previous mode for about a week and hope to get a different ip next time.

Don't bother with Virgin's forum all I got was a bunch of idiots accusing me of trying to circumvent my own ban despite my insistance that Virgin should look at their ip assignation logs if they think that's the case (iirc they didn't even try to help).

A paid vpn is worth the money imho, you can get free ones but for a few quid a month why not go with a better one.

You can get a good one for £5/month quite easily that will allow you 3 simultaneous connections so with the 4th device on your original IP that could give you 4 log-ons if that's what you're after.

I imagine a lot of the fun would be gone with that degree of involvement though but what do I know.

An added bonus is that you can get a fair bit of American telly too.

I used to do this with the old dlink routers you used to get with virgin. Just change its mac address slightly and you'd get a new IP. Got any spare routers? :D

Why not mail the support of the game you play and explain the situation?

They can probably release the account from that IP address...
