I have a VM10mb connection but it has virtually ground to a halt. I tried to set up VM newsgroups but I cant even download the list from the server. I have checked with speedtest and my upload speed and ping are fine but my download speed is sometimes less than 1mb and in reality my Internet is virtually useless. I am not being throttled and I have been trying various things to get it working but without successso far.

Any suggestions on what I can try?

I did try that and I got as far as the tech guy getting me to go into safe mode but my z board doesnt work properly unless windows is running

is your line length a big problem for you, does your Telephone line go along side lots off comercial industrial noise ie generators from buildings, to get to the telephone exchange, etc do put my info regarding your modem, line length etc , use samknows.com click telephone echange put in your postcode .

Daegan you star. I have checked the event log and the downstream lock is failing all the time. The Indian guy I rang said the modem was fine  Back to the phone then.

IMO if its ground to a halt someone is downloading torrents..
Are you the only person on that connection?

Are you using the Netgear router VM gave you?

As he mentioned already, the downstream lock is not stable. So it is the modem or the line.

I like analogies. If you can't hear your mate/girlfriend on the phone it is not because your mother is screaming in your ear. It is because you keep hanging up on him/her.
