Hi all,

Got an upgrade for the 100mb Virgin Media broadband, apparently the new cable modem is a wireless router too.
Now my predicament is i use a Apple Airport Extreme Base Station with my current cable modem, but with the upgrade should i ditch the Apple kit and use the new cable modem router wifi?
Or is there a way i can still utilise the Apple kit (any need?)

Your thoughts please?

lots of complaints about the wireless function on the new superhub.

search on this forum theres a work around to get it to work as a modem, (currently waiting on a firmware update from virgin, said to be july time ish, to be able to set it as modem only), then use your current apple gear for wireless.

Thanks for reply, yes i think i'm best sticking with Apple gear for wireless as it's very dependable. From what i've heard of on forums it's a nightmare this wireless part on the VM superhub, people are saying best to go into settings and disable the "Firewall" & another thing called "IP flood protection". Apparently this seems to help a fair bit, or at least a firmware upgrade. I'm going to be bearing this in mind, and keep my Apple AEBS. :D

yep those 2 options being unticked seem to help a fair few, check the router, should be on fireware level r26 iirc.

new firrmware has been due a while, last shout was it should be available this month.
