DHCP RENEW WARNING - Field invalid in response
TLV-11 - unrecognized OID
and lots of these one after another...

SYNC Timing Synchronization failure - Failed to acquire FEC framing
SYNC Timing Synchronization failure - Failed to acquire QAM/QPSK symbol timing

In NW. Don't know rest of uk

I have been getting 1100 KB/s on and off for the last week, I am in Wigan but some mates are getting normal speeds.

I am getting about 65/70 KB/s upload speeds.

"Up to 8 meg"

Mines still 4mb. :( I heard that to get 10mb speeds you needed a new modem. Well I remember reading someones post on here talking about it.

Depends what your current modem is? I had the flat silver one but had the new NTL250 put in months ago due to an issue, I get solid 10meg if not more now!

I have the original Motorola surfboard modem that must be years an years old now.

Today I'll be ringing up hoping to get some upgrades, hopefully they'll give me a new box too.

I have that one had it for what, 4-5 years since I first got blueyonder, great piece of kit. Getting 10 meg speeds on it so I doubt you need a newer.

If it's the sb3200 or 3100 (not sure what it's called), then it needs to be updated. If it's the 4100 then it's fine.

To answer a few questions ... 3100 can't do more than 3.5mbit iirc - despite the manual claiming it can, 4100 or newer is fine. Testing is only done on a small number of users on selected UBR's. 768k upload is what's going out in each trial config so I see nothing to suggest it won't be rolled out at exactly that, based on former NTL policy i'd have hoped for 1mbit but it's nothing i'll loose sleep over. NTL don't do static IP's as such (actually they don't exist as such) it's all Virgin now. You may want to look into yi.org or the other dynamic dns offerings.

Oh and how did this thread go from 20mbit on Virgin (Cable) discussion to do you think my ADSL is slow ? Do people just pick a random thread to post in ?

It won't ... the config has never shown in the logs on any of the modems i've seen, it's on another page (differs from brand to brand) look for something that reads cm-1024/512 or similar if you're on 10mbit.
