Virgin Media and Cisco kit

Hi all!

I'm wanting to expand my networking knowledge and was thinking of dropping some cash on some cisco kit. have any of the members here done something like that? how did it go and what model number kit did you end up buying?

I'm not a complete networking novice, but when it comes to cisco stuff I am.

What is it you're trying to learn? More about the hardware itself or the IOS (I'm assuming it's this).

If you're looking at doing this there are some great programs out there you can create a virtual network on and learn from without the cost of the hardware. Packet Tracer and GNS3 are two that pop into my mind.

That's the route I'd take...
