Basically I currently live in Birmingham but moving to Milton Keynes over the next few weeks.

I have a contract with VM but it seems that they dont do fibre optic broadband in MK! They do provide broadband through the phone line though but im just curious as to how that compares with fibre optics and the such?

Anyone with VM and have broadband through phone lines? Anyone know if it will cost me to transfer to a new property? It cheaper to do it this way?

Im ringing VM tonight to find out more but theres no harm in posting here first :D

Thanks!

So your saying I can ring up and say "I want to cancel my TV (also requires cable) and Broadband because you dont provide cable in the new flat im moving into."

They may come back with "Well you can get broadband through your phone line..."

What do I say to that? Just - I don't want that, I require 60mb for work (or something like that)

Have you not received a letter saying your bill is going to go up? I thought everyone (on Virgin) was getting one.

Just try it anyway phone up and say your not happy with the price increase and see what they say.

Maybe you'll get letter later on (or perhaps not all but I doubt it as I think everyone is getting one)

Oh ye ive got a letter saying they were putting the prices up (think it was about £3 a month more or something). Sorry I just didn't realize that was the point you were making :p

Oh thats abit of good news if that works out then!

Ill give that a go tonight and report back.

BTW saying you need the internet for work isn't a good excuse if your using a residential broadband connection :P you'd only have a leg to stand on in that context if you were using a business line with an SLA.

Fair enough :p

Hopefully I wont have to give any excuses now anyways :D

Just to confirm that yes you can cancel your VM contract if you get in touch 28 days within receiving the letter / email and talk about the fact your not happy with the money rises!

Yey! It did take an hour to sort out but finally got to a stage where I have ended my contract and saved myself £180 in cancellation fees! :D

TO MILTON KEYNES!
