As above im moving house on Saturday and having spoken to BT on the phone today regarding me moving house they have told me i can only get 2-2.5mb at the new property:rolleyes:

Im currently getting 6-7mb so of course i was shocked to hear this, the new house must be further away from the exchange,so ive just signed up to VM cable 30mb:D which is being installed a few days after i move in.

Even though i have a 10 month contract with BT left and the VM cable is costing quite a bit as i havent got a landline with them im happy with 30mb.

So ive read the traffic management page but i dont fully understand it?

Is VM truly unlimited ? but you have to not go past 10gb 10-3 and then 5gb 4-9pm?

So after 9pm can i dl what i like and not be traffic shaped?

Also do VM throttle p2p like BT ?

The OP is correct as far as downloaded data is concerned.

VM seem more interested in uploaded data.

I'm on 50Mbps download which gives 5Mbps upload speed.

I have to limit uploading between 9am and 9pm to less than 1Mbps. If I use any more they send me nasty letters.

In addition to this their P2P traffic shaping limits uploads to less than 1Mbps between 9pm and around midnight.

All this means I can only use my full upload speed between midnight and around 8am (when it slows down again).

Hi thanks for the reply do you know what the reduced speed is?

As BT throttle say Utorrent to under 1mb 24/7,i cant see VM being this bad?

i always get my max speed on torrents on the 20mb package, i dont know if setting utorrent to use port 6112 has anything to do with it, depends how simple their track shaping is. (i dont use a high port for that reason though, i had problems on the standard port ages ago and couldnt get it to show as fully open to torrent trackers no matter what router settings i tried)

Is that upload or download.

I have no problem with downloads but VM seem hot on uploads.
