Virgin Media Discussion Thread

I'm in Lincolnshire and my BQM had the same blip... Tbh I didn't notice anything wrong at the time, but I wasn't gaming or anything though yesterday either.

Looks like it could've been more of a TBB issue wherever the data centre/uplink provider is located maybe?

I don't think it was a TBB issue, my FTTP line and others I've looked at (non-Virgin) were perfectly fine. Perhaps an issue specifically between TBB and VM or with VM themselves.

These posts prompted me to take a look at my own (years-old) BMW, and something weird happened four days ago:

Every day since, the pings are very low. The strange thing is, my 'real world' latency is actually worse now. About 22-24ms to 9.9.9.9 (was 18 before) and 30ms to Google.

Edit: No discernable difference from my network going out:

They've managed to have this fault exist for four days without picking it up and fixing it. Absolute clownshoes outfit.

My sister is with them because they're the only 100Mbps+ provider available, and people on her street are moving to G.Network as the fibre build reaches their homes. Sometimes people with months left with Virgin are swapping because they just need a connection that works.

Are you sure you're pinging your VM connection? oursecure.network is a cloudflare endpoint.

I came here to post about this. Actually oursecure.network is my own personal/home domain, but when I moved my tor exit relays, obfs4 bridges and Signal proxies to Njalla (domains) and a new host for the some of the servers, I accidentally activated Cloudflare proxy for my personal domain root instead of just one of the subdomains. Noob. :p I went through a patch where my WAN IP changed almost daily when VM were doing works, so I pointed TBB at my domain to cut down on the number of things that needed updating when my WAN IP did. Then, I forgot I'd done it! Sorted now haha.

Playing games with my mate last night, I'm still trying to put up with this (100Mbit VM) in the end the Lag and packet loss was so bad, I tethered through my phone with 2x bars on 4G, and had a better experience :D

Thankfully I'll be moving house in a month or two, so won't have to put up with this for much longer. VM say "there's nothing we can do" as my download speed is fine.

More people should push these sorts of congestion issues through complaint -> deadlock letter -> CISAS ruling - VM do not bother to fight, so you can say that your preferred resolution would be a refund for the months where the service has been unusable and an early contract release.

Appreciate it's more effort than just leaving when the contract ends.
